Lack of political support hinders open source desktop

Of the fifteen million civil servants in the member states of the European Union, those in education and health care not included, 105 thousand use a PC running an open source operating system.

In other words, for every thousands PCs, seven will be running an open source operating systems. I conclude this after counting the complete open source desktop cases reported on the EU’s open source observatory and repository OSOR.

The article is published in the Open Source Jaarboek. That article was cited by the Dutch IT web site Computable. That Computable news item was cited by Tweakers, also in Dutch. And at OSNews, in Polish, here. And at Pro-Linux, in German.
